About Canadian Children's Opera Company:
The Canadian Children's Opera Company (CCOC) is a world-class ensemble that introduces the magic of opera to children and youth through professional musical and dramatic education, and the performance of established and newly commissioned operatic and choral repertoire. The CCOC was founded in 1968 specifically to provide a stable source of child singers for productions of the Canadian Opera Company. It remains the only permanent children's opera company in Canada that regularly commissions and produces operas for children.
NOTE: Tickets go on sale Tues., March 12 at 1pm.
Commissioned and produced by the Canadian Children's Opera Company (CCOC), Laura’s Cow is a musical extravaganza about the War of 1812’s most famous story. After overhearing billeted American officers discussing a surprise attack, the wife of a wounded Canadian militiaman undertakes a gruelling trek through enemy-occupied territory to warn the British garrison at Beaver Dams, disguising her journey’s true intent by travelling with her cow. Celebrate the 200th anniversary of her journey with this fanciful retelling suitable for the whole family. Guest artists include baritone Andrew Love, mezzo-soprano Marta Herman and a chamber orchestra. Music by Errol Gay with words by Michael Patrick Albano.
