Danny Michel was recently invited on the trip of a lifetime with Canadian Astronaut Col. Chris Hadfield and Generator Arctic, a group of scientists, photographers, writers, and videographers with a mission to document their journey through the Arctic and share it with the rest of the world. They spent 18 days aboard the Russian icebreaker Kapitan Khlebnikov, and during that time, Danny wrote and recorded an entire album in his makeshift studio “Cabin 712”.
Upon his return to Canada, Danny shared his new songs with long-time friend Rob Carli, who wrote a beautiful selection of string and brass arrangements to accompany them. Aside from being a member of Danny’s band, Rob is is one of Canada’s most in-demand composers with 15 Gemini and Canadian Screen Award nominations, 5 Gemini Awards, 2 Canadian Screen Awards and 3 SOCAN Awards for domestic television. The album also features Col. Hadfield himself (singing in Russian) as well as a dishwasher from the Khlebnikov kitchen.
Join Danny Michel and Rob Carli as they perform Khlebnikov in its entirety along with a chamber orchestra. There will also be appearances from special guest Col. Chris Hadfield, and the past captain of the Khlebnikov, Kapitan Petr Golikov. Don’t miss an unforgettable evening!
