Torn From the Pages with Miriam Toews, hosted by Dave Bidini
May 30, 2015
Torn from the Pages, borne from the imagination of writer/musician/Rheostatic Dave Bidini, is an evening where the worlds of books and music collide. It's a frisson of prose and melody based on the ouevre of a single artist, in this case, Winnipeg's Giller nominated Miriam Toews.
Under the lights of the gorgeous Harbourfront Centre Theatre, three songwriters and three writers will debut newly commissioned works evoked and inspired by the writer's catalogue, creating new art out of existing art: songs, stories, poems and the like. The performance will be hosted by Bidini and will also feature an appearance by Ms. Toews herself.
Torn from the Pages has previously celebrated Michael Crummey, Stephen Heighton, Claudia Dey, Linden MacIntyre and others. This fourth installment is the first to be staged in the intimate and grand setting of Harbourfront Centre Theatre, promising a historic literary and music event that should not be missed.
Presented by Massey Hall.
