Relaxed Performance

Cripping the Stage welcomes its audience to a relaxed environment. Relaxed Performances are specifically designed to welcome people who will benefit from a more relaxed performance environment, including people with an Autism Spectrum Condition, sensory and communication disorders, or a learning disability. We offer a relaxed attitude toward noise or movement throughout the performance.

Scent-free Event

To provide a chemical and fragrance free event, we request that visitors refrain from the following before and/or during the event: smoking, wearing colognes, perfumes, scented oils. We ask visitors to wear something that has limited exposure to the items listed above.

Cripping the Stage is a disability arts cabaret featuring cutting-edge disabled artists from Canada and the United Kingdom.

Co-hosted by Alex Bulmer (Invisible Flash, Winston Churchill Fellow) and Mat Fraser (American Horror Story), this event puts disabled performers centre stage to celebrate Cripping the Arts Symposium presented by Tangled Art + Disability, a three-day event seeking to advance Deaf and Disability Arts in Canada, and enliven the vibrancy of Canadian culture

Cripping the Stage will showcase music, performance and stand-up comedy by Alex Bulmer (CA/UK), Liz Carr (UK), Laurence Clark (UK), Mat Fraser (UK), masti khor (CA), The Mighty Rhino (CA), jes sachse (CA), Syrus Marcus Ware (CA), and Lynx Sainte-Marie (CA).

This event offers ASL interpretation, full live audio description, and attendant care for the entire Relaxed performance event.
