Les Rats d’Swompe © Martin Rocheleau
The 36th edition of La Franco-Fête, Toronto's flagship event celebrates the cultural richness and diversity of its Francophone community.
As the biggest event of its kind in Toronto, Franco-Fête will offer free activities in French for all ages, from kids' events and family-friendly shows, to top-billed Canadian artists.
This year's program will honor Les Colocs, a famous Quebec band that has made crowds of all ages sing and dance for many years. The musical trio Les Rats d’Swompe will undoubtedly bring a festive atmosphere with the sound of the traditional violin and their call-and-response songs. Singer-songwriter Kyris will present his unique brand of French pop/folk. Also part of the exceptional line-up: originating from Chad, the gospel, soul, jazz and pop a cappella group H'sao; Montreal’s Congolese afro-house signer-songwriter Kizaba; and Montreal's Le Winston Band, with their fusion of rock, zydeco, and French-Canadian influences.
There will also be family programming including, among others, Jojo, a singer-songwriter who will present her show À la ferme de Jojo. Le Pére Garneau, one of the most popular storytellers in the Ontario Francophonie and Daniel Richer a captivating Indigenous storyteller.
