The Too Cool for School Art & Science Fair was invented to turn the spotlight on the unexpected feats of imagination and exploration that are happening all around us. The event is structured like a typical science fair, with 50 projects and their creators assembled for one day to share their work and ideas with an audience and to compete for awards. The difference is that the projects are a mix of both art and science.
The participants in the Too Cool for School Art & Science Fair are from all walks of life, amateurs and professionals, many sharing their pet projects with the public for the first time. Participants are selected from an open call for submissions on the basis of originality, depth of inquiry, creative innovation and the element of surprise.
Happening 12-4pm in the Brigantine Room.
Part of Fresh Ground new works, Harbourfront Centre’s national commissioning programme.

K'NEX Bridge Building Challenge
The Ontario Science Centre will launch the K'NEX Bridge Building Challenge. Participants try to build the lightest K'NEX bridge that holds the greatest weight while spanning an 18-inch gap. The bridges will then be load-tested to destruction by Ontario Science Centre hosts armed with the Bridge-Crusher! Participants receive an Ontario Science Centre certificate with their bridge's load-to-weight ratio.
In addition, Ontario Science Centre hosts will amaze and impress visitors with a variety of interactive, on-the-spot science activities.
Happening 12-4pm in the Brigantine Tent.
Science Rendezvous
Science Rendezvous will present exhibits from Xerox, Subtle Technologies and Ontario College of Art and Design. Science Rendezvous is a unique initiative held at partnering university and college campuses and at select research hospitals, cultural and public sites across Ontario.
Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD): Inspired by the magnificent worldviews revealed by the lens of science, students from OCAD create art that responds to the microscopic realm of particle physics, through to the macroscopic realm of relativity.
Xerox Research Group: A peek into the Xerox labs and the science inside Xerox products. Learn about the innovative research being carried out at Xerox’s Canadian research centre.
Subtle Technologies: See a selection of the best from Subtle Technologies past 12 years, and a taste of what's to come at this year's festival on the theme of sustainability.
Happening 12-4pm in the Marilyn Brewer Community Space.
