Born and raised in Toronto, Kevin Carrington’s early years were dedicated to sports, being apart of the track and field, basketball, baseball, soccer and football teams. After studying at Seneca College and the National Institute of Broadcasting, Kevin stayed close to his Barbadian roots and in 2002, began working as co-host of Kaiso Rising, a programme at York University’s CHRY105.5 FM radio station.
At CHRY he was urged by staff to join their daily, spoken word news programme called News Now. In 2001, Kevin followed in his parents’ footsteps and began working at the Toronto Transit Commission (TTC). Here his passion for broadcasting continued and he began doing regular fill-ins as their Transit Reporter on Breakfast Television, CP24 and 680NEWS.
Kevin sees his career in the broadcasting industry as a tool he can use to educate, enlighten and entertain. He can be found hosting events all over the city, from the Jerk & Jazz Festival at Queens Park, the National Council of Barbadian Associations Sickle Cell Brunch to the annual TTC Rodeo & Family Day.
Kevin will be hosting all of the events on our Redpath Stage during the weekend.
