The Dance Migration is Toronto’s leading Afro-Brazilian dance company. Company director Adrianna Yanuziello brings the culture of dance from Brazil to her home city of Toronto with exhilarating performances combining Afro-Brazilian dance, Capoeira, and contemporary Silvestre technique. Recent shows have included Roots of Bahia and Roots of Brazil at Lula Lounge, as well as performances at Luminato H2O, Brasileiro, the Guelph Jazz Festival, Afro Fest, Brazil Fest and Samba on Dundas. The Dance Migration also performs at private events and conferences, most recently performing at a conference for the Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrant Women.
Founder and Artistic Director Adrianna Yanuziello is a versatile and highly trained dancer, choreographer, and teacher specializing in Brazilian dance. She continues to develop her craft through returning to Brazil to train with Rosangela Silvestre of Silvestre Link and Nildinha Fonseca of Bale Folclorico da Bahia. While in Brazil, she performed in the 2007 Carnival with world renowned band Olodum, and in Silvestre performances at the Teatro Villa Velha and in the famous city centre’s Teatro SESC. She shares her experience and inspiration in her teaching in Toronto and abroad, having taught numerous workshops within Canada, Israel, and Brazil. She also works with Rosangela Silvestre and Nildinha Fonseca, organizing workshops for dancers from all over the world.
