About Amélie & Les Singes Bleus:
Formed in 2002 by Rizaldo Padilla and Jean-François Gouin, Les Singes Bleus recruited rising star Amélie Lefebvre in 2007 after Gouin's departure. The writer-composer-performer, already riding high on the wings of her album Amélie, was delighted to accept the invitation, and the band soon became a favourite of Toronto’s Anglophone Francophile audiences.
The fusion of Amélie and Les Singes Bleus is reminiscent of Paris Combo and Pink Martini, musical legends that enthralled fans. Their live shows are dynamic and vibrant, and pay tribute to French songs from around the world by revisiting the hits of Georges Brassens, Serge Gainsbourg and several other internationally known French artists. It is in the arrangements of their remakes that we can appreciate the band’s dexterity, which gets audiences singing and sometimes even swinging. With its wide range of musical styles and rhythms, from pop-swing and jazz manouche to roots, everything is there to propel you into a world like no other you’ve ever experienced.
Les Singes Bleus are Rizaldo Padilla (guitar), Rick Walters (contrabass), Bart Hart (drums), and Beth Washburn (horn, tuba).
