Weengushk Film Institute (WFI) is a not-for-profit artist-focused, film and television-training centre, dedicated to unlocking the creative potential while developing market leading skills and experiences to its participants. Renewal comes to mind since WFI provides hands on training with the top of the line professional instructors and Creative Advisors, participants have access to one-on-one mentorship and actively participate in the exchange of ideas, stories, freedom of expression and diverse cultural histories.
Weengushk’s goal is to train, develop, guide and mentor young emerging artists to develop their creative skills and attain a level of professionalism that promotes self-sustainability in a competitive market.
WFI envisions the collection, preservation and representation of new creative voices in the film and television industry; encouraging the development and recognition of these diverse participants to enhance the artistic vitality of Canadian life. It is an innovative and entrepreneurial response to an identified and documented absence of training opportunities for youth in Northern Canada and within Canada.
