Way Out West
July 3, 2008

For the first time, the acclaimed Australian world/jazz group, Way Out West brings its beguiling blend of Vietnamese, African, and jazz sounds to Canada. Their 8-date tour has the band performing numerous jazz festivals and venues from Vancouver to Montreal.

Way Out West's sound is melodic, deeply groovy and alluring, while at the same time sounding like nothing else you’ve ever heard. It has been described as "utterly unique" and features the hauntingly beautiful timbres of traditional Vietnamese instruments the dan tranh (16-string zither) and the dan bau (single string zither), played by multi-instrumental virtuoso Dung Nguyen.
