About the Presenters

dance Immersion is a not-for-profit organization recognized for its steady engagement in producing, promoting and showcasing dancers and dances of the African Diaspora. The organization was founded in 1994 by Vivine Scarlett and was established to address the need for additional presentation, skill development, and networking opportunities for dance artists of African descent.

During its 21 year history, dance Immersion has experienced considerable success in connecting with artists throughout Canada and around the world, and provides opportunities for audiences and participants to experience firsthand the global language of dance, and its ability to build bridges between diverse cultures. Our programs offer a variety of activities that evoke diverse artistic expressions.

It provides a nurturing and supportive environment for professional and aspiring dance artists to work and explore diverse styles and expressions. Footsteps Across Canada celebrates a mix of dance manifestations by artists from across the nation. This showcase focuses on our Canadian expressions uncovered by artists who represent a unique voice within the dance ecology.

An explosive collection of work by six acclaimed choreographers – Esie Mensah (Ontario), Mikhail Morris (Ontario), Rodney Diverlus (Alberta), Rhodnie Désir (Quebec), Mafa Makhubalo (Ontario) and Liliona Quarmyne (Nova Scotia) – will grace the stage with works that include Jazz, Contemporary, African, Dancehall and more.

Audiences will embark on a total dance experience reflecting and celebrating the human spirit across Canada.
