Ubuntu (I Am Because We Are) Drum and Dance Theatre is a grass root children’s group committed to celebrating African culture and history through drumming, dance and theatre.
Ubuntu Drum and Dance Theatre share stories from the African continent and the Diaspora that detail some of their struggles, and guide them towards their history, culture and knowledge of self as a means of strength, and to reconnect the community to their own traditions and life styles. The group has been performing since 2011 and has performed at various venues and community events in the Greater Toronto Area, entertaining, educating and delighting all who see these children perform. Ubuntu is made up of ten drummers and eleven dancers who enjoy the cultural dance and drumming they execute.
