In Ontario, almost half of Aboriginal people – First Nation, Métis and Inuit – are less than 25 years old. They live on reserves and in towns and cities across the province. For this project, Aboriginal youth, both on-reserve and urban, were mentored by Aboriginal photographers. This project gives Aboriginal youth a chance to share their stories with people across the province, and to learn the role that photography can have in storytelling and social change.
In My Own Eyes is produced in partnership by the Ontario Ministry of Aboriginal Affairs, Planet IndigenUS, the Ontario First Nations Young Peoples Council and the Ontario Federation of Indian Friendship Centres' Youth Council.
In My Own Eyes will be on display from July 1 to September 30, 2012.
In My Own Eyes will be located post-security in the domestic departures area near Gate D20. Valid travel documents are required to view the exhibition.
