Stephanie Martin and George Meanwell in Concert
TIMES / VENUES
Saturday, November 8
Harbourfront Centre Theatre
231 Queens Quay West
Veteran songwriters Stephanie Martin and George Meanwell team up in a double bill that will feature new music from Stephanie Martin alongside favourites from her 2007 jazzy-pop debut album Shape, line & harmony, hailed by CBC Radio as “One of the year’s best releases.” George Meanwell will perform songs from his 2003 release Another Street as well as cuts from his new disc Late, which Showtime Magazine calls “A rich mixture…terrific album.”
The pair met last summer while performing at a downtown music series at the NOW Lounge. “I fell in love with George’s songs, I knew we had a future together” Martin says. Meanwell adds “It was a magical night, Steph had the audience spellbound.”
A passion for songwriting and communicating that passion is what these two accomplished musicians have in common and what they plan to bring to the stage in November. They will be joined by musicians Chad Irschick, Ray Parker, David MacDougall, Rick Whitelaw, Todd Elsliger and Kurt Nielsen.
