Rental Fees
Harbourfront Centre subsidizes all Craft Studio artists-in-residence rental fees.
Facilities
Harbourfront Centre covers all overhead costs to the Craft Studios (gas, hydro, electricity, propane). Harbourfront Centre maintains and replaces when needed, all major equipment and facilities.
Access
The Craft Studio must be active during all public hours. All full-time residents have 24 hour access to the Craft Studio facilities.
Library
We have a small but comprehensive library of craft publications including magazines, books and additional resources (graduate school prospectus, summer school calendars, exhibition postings etc.).
Office Resources
Harbourfront Centre is able to provide access to: computer (including internet), printer, photocopier, telephone and fax machine for business purposes.
Parking
Reduced-rate parking is available for all artists-in-residence.
Advisers
Each studio has two or more volunteer, professional advisers who help choose new artists-in-residence, advise on equipment, offer critiques and suggestions about career direction and work.
Professional Development & Exhibition
Harbourfront Centre organizes a series of events primarily for artists-in-residence and the greater craft community with national and international artists and professionals. Lectures, workshops, seminars (Contemporary Craft Symposia, Visiting Artists), conferences, and exhibitions (Artists-in-residence Biennial Exhibition, and others). We encourage all artists-in-residence to participate in these professional development opportunities.
Classes
Artists-in-residence have the opportunity to teach classes. Class structure varies depending on each studio. Residents keep full tuition for classes, Harbourfront Centre does not take a percentage. Classes are listed on Harbourfront Centre’s website and collective advertisements.
Retail Sales & Commissions
Artists-in-residence have the opportunity to sell work as well as opportunities for corporate commissions through BOUNTY Contemporary Craft + Design Shop at Harbourfront Centre.
