The recipients of this round of Fresh Ground new works commissions will be announced in May 2010.
This September 2009, Harbourfront Centre is pleased to issue the fourth Call for Submissions for Fresh Ground new works. Thanks to the generous support of our donors, a maximum of five separate projects will be commissioned for creation and presentation at Harbourfront Centre during the 2011-2012 season.
In a change from previous Calls for Submission, this year Fresh Ground new works aims to be a catalyst for the creation of stimulating new multi-disciplinary arts experiences intended specifically for children and youth. Furthermore, Harbourfront Centre is particularly interested in submissions from artists and companies who have not previously undertaken creation for these age groups before.
Our challenge to all interested artists and companies is to devise work which will not only involve, stimulate, entice, intrigue and engage young people with the arts, but which is also reflective of the diversity of today's Canadian youth.
A maximum of $20,000 each will be awarded to up to five separate projects which successfully fulfill the criteria of a new, collaborative artistic creation incorporating more than one discipline or field. As in previous years, the work must be original, never before presented or performed, and be ready for presentation or installation at Harbourfront Centre between April 2011 and May 2012
