Harbourfront Centre Poetry Slam
July 24-25, 2009
Hosted by Dave "Big Deal" Silverberg, the Toronto Poetry Project presents the Harbourfront Centre Poetry Slam, featuring top poets from the spoken word scene. This battle/concert brings the city’s poetry from the page to the stage.
The semifinals begin on Friday night with eight poets with the top five poets moving on to the finals on Saturday night. Judges from the audience score each poem between 0 and 10, using scorecards (like the Olympics). The poems are judged on both content and performance.
Participating poets include Valentino Assenza, Gypsy Eyes, That Brown Bastard , Lara Bozabalian, Truth Is and Andrea Thompson.
The featured poet on Saturday is Ian Keteku, a winner from the Ottawa Slam.
