Franco-fête

Curatorial Statement

Franco-fête is Toronto’s premiere francophone event and the biggest French language cultural festival in Ontario. From its origins as a mini St-Jean Baptiste festival some 27 years ago, Franco-fête has morphed into a diverse, multiethnic celebration of francophone cultures.

Every June, thousands of Francophones and Francophiles converge at Harbourfront Centre on the shores of Lake Ontario, to celebrate francophone culture from around the world.

Franco-fête 2009 promises to continue this celebration and promotion of francophone culture through diverse activities ranging from culinary creations to art, dance and most of all “musique francophone.” A great and rare experience, Franco-fête aims to bring together people of all languages and backgrounds from across the GTA to celebrate Canada’s rich and diverse francophone heritage.
