Curatorial Statement

Beats, Breaks & Culture (BBC) has grown and evolved with each passing festival. Its evolution is adjacent to the growth of contemporary, left-of-centre music genres which have expanded beyond the traditional electronic music format. BBC takes on the "shuffle" philosophy of the iPod which incorporates many different musical tastes with endless possibilities. With a focus on global to local we will be presenting Canada's top cutting-edge icons that have made an international impact as well as some global to local musical pairings. In addition, we will continue the expansion of our family, dance and film presentations through new, innovative, out-of-the-box programming.
