DV8 Physical Theatre knows that Canada has a wealth of dance talent, and while they are here on tour they will hold an open call for dancers to audition for a place in this highly sought-after company.
The company will be auditioning for two upcoming performances; Strange Fish, a re-working of the Lloyd Newson classic set to begin its tour in late 2010, and an as-yet-untitled performance scheduled to tour in 2012.
Male and female dancers are welcome. Auditions start promptly at 10am and latecomers will not be permitted.

As a very special compendium to our World Stage presentation of DV8 Physical Theatre’s To Be Straight with You, Harbourfront Centre and Buddies in Bad Times Theatre invite you to participate in a FREE, three-day workshop with Glasgow-based artist Adrian Howells, delving into the process and considerations related to autobiographical, confessional and intimate performance.
Space is limited. If you are interested in taking part, please contact us for more information.
Howells has been a performance artist for the past 20 years. He creates work that promotes intimacy and genuine exchange with the audience in one-to-one, autobiographical and confessional contexts, in a range of non-traditional performance spaces. He has developed work investigating sexuality, social taboo and social conventions in public space and private situations. Howells is a recognized artists and performance professor at the University of Glasgow, with extensive experience in workshop facilitation and lecturing for high school and university students, professional artists and community groups.
HATCHLab is a peer-to-peer learning opportunity presented as part of our HATCH: emerging performance projects and World Stage programmes. The mandate of HATCHLab is to link the local performance community with international peers and practices. Past HATCHLabs have been facilitated by New York's The TEAM (Theatre of the Emerging American Moment), Australia's Back to Back Theatre and UK's Stan's Cafe.
During the course of our lifetime our feet take a real punishing and are an area of the body that is often neglected. This is your opportunity to take the weight off both your feet and mind. Artist Adrian Howells washes your feet in this therapeutic performance experience.
"You are greeted by Adrian, who proceeds to wash and massage your feet. There is something about the intent and the meditative way that this is set up with its cultural and religious references that makes it much more than its parIes. The exchange that takes place: is transformative, not just a transaction."
- Lyn Gardner, Guardian
There are only 20 available spots for this limited experience. To be eligible, kindly contribute $20 in support of Harbourfront Centre by 6pm on November 27th. Twenty lucky individuals will be selected at random to schedule their exclusive Foot Washing for the Sole experience with the artist.
To make your contribution, or for more information, contact E.J. Alon, Senior Development Officer, or visit harbourfrontcentre.com/footwashingforthesole.
