As a jewellery artist, Emma Piirtoniemi explores the incredible potential of jewellery to convey big ideas on an intimate scale. Originally from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Emma completed her BFA Major in Jewellery Design and Metalsmithing and Minor in Art History at NSCAD University. She was a finalist in the 2016 L.A. Pai National Jewellery Student Competition in Ottawa and exhibited at SOFA Chicago 2016. Working in acrylic, glass, and metal, Emma’s pieces evolve within themes of allure, intimacy, and private worlds. She creates wearable contemplative objects meant to entice the eye and beckon the hand.
Emma was accepted as an Artist-in-Residence (Metal) at Harbourfront Centre in 2017.
