“As a high school student that was unsure of the career path I wanted to take, Harbourfront Centre was a great stepping stone to help navigate through several areas of interest. During my time here I was able to develop new skills, identify my strengths and weaknesses as well interact with a diverse group of peers, that allowed me to grow and mature. By gaining authentic work experience, Harbourfront Centre offered a friendly but realistic approach to cooperative learning. It was here that I discovered my passion for working, engaging and collaborating with people. This ultimately resulted in finding a career path that embodied the following. Today, in my third year of Justice Studies at the University of Guelph-Humber, Harbourfront Centre was instrumental in beginning my journey to discovering who I am and what I wanted to do. Through mentorship, hands on learning and constant interaction with new people, Harbourfront Centre provided me with a series of invaluable tools and lesson that continue to prove as relevant to this day.”

“My 2016 internship with the School Visits department at Harbourfront Centre gave me insight on how non-profit organizations provide educational programming for the community. I was able to see firsthand the amount of work that goes into ensuring the quality of the courses, and how much training and support given to the educators. I gained valuable hands on experience working along the full-time educators within the classroom setting, where I was able to learn about classroom management skills. The highlight of my internship was the chance to work with one of the most positive, passionate, and supportive teams. Since then I had the opportunity to work in various other roles within the organization, all due to the training I received and the relationships I built with the wonderful school visits team.”
