A key component of Harbourfront Centre’s mandate is championing the creation of new artistic works while providing a platform for innovation, creation and excellence.
Some of these programmes include Visual Arts open call for professional artists’ submission for exhibitions in York Quay Gallery and the Craft & Design Studio’s Artists-in-Residence Program.
Many of the fantastic works are brought through Harbourfront Centre due to our invaluable relationships with community partners. Partnerships give community organizations the opportunity to showcase the artistic excellence found within their communities and collaborate with an international, professional and arts-based organization.
Harbourfront Centre’s Cultural Engagement (CE) Department produces over a dozen multi-disciplinary contemporary arts festivals throughout the summer season, as well as many off-summer events at various Harbourfront Centre venues.
Partnerships give organizations the opportunity to showcase the artistic excellence of their community to a large and diverse audience, and collaborate and benefit from the expertise of the Harbourfront Centre team.

Harbourfront Centre’s daring festival, BRAVE, returns for another spin on what it means to lead a meaningful, multi-faceted life. This year’s iteration of the festival zooms in on “Secret Lives, Second Chances.” For 11 days in July, we uncover the hidden and concealed parts of ourselves through experiential theatre, immersive art, music, food and objects. BRAVE looks into the boxes we place ourselves in, the ones we try to break out of and the unexpected paths we take. BRAVE will feature international as well as Canadian talents and will also include 3 participatory programs:
- Museum of Broken Relationships – Submissions Closed
- Second Chance Romance – Submissions Closed
- The Second Woman
Submission deadlines vary.
