Originally commissioned and premiered by the CCOC in 2004, this fast-paced adaptation of Tolkien’s classic children’s novel returns to the stage with a cast of over 100 children and youth. Dean Burry’s critically acclaimed opera returns to Toronto after two successful productions in the United States.

Join Bilbo on his adventure with Gandalf (Giles Tomkins) and his dwarven friends, as they seek to outwit elves, goblins, wolves, and spiders alike in their quest to restore the Dwarf king Thorin Oakenshield to his throne. But there are also riddles in the dark, a mysterious ring, and the terrifying dragon Smaug awaits the completion of their journey.
