Community Ofrendas (altars)

The ofrendas of various community groups will be on display all weekend, each with a distinct theme related directly to Day of the Dead.

Mexican Market Place

The Mexican Market Place features a variety of crafts to choose from: Mexican Day of the Dead figures and crafts, textiles, jewellery, chocolate drinks, Day of the Dead bread (pan de muerto) and more!

Hands-on Clay with Carlomagno Pedro Martinez

Sit down and try your hand at working with clay while chatting with visiting artist Carlomagno, a renowned artist from Oaxaca.

Folk Dance Workshop with the Mexican Folkloric Dance Company

POWER KIDS / Recreating News

Inspired by artist Omer Fast’s use of narrative and news media in his piece CNN Concatenated (2002), each participant will create a fictional news event by collaging found text from current newspapers and magazines. For children ages 10 – 15 and their adult companions.
