IMPORTANT MESSAGE
Harbourfront Centre is disappointed to announce that serious infrastructure issues have forced the closure of its iconic outdoor waterfront rink this winter.
We are also deeply disappointed that we must cancel our 2020–21 skating season, including our Learn to Skate program, as we were all looking forward to getting outside and skating on one of the most beautiful rinks in the city. Learn more here.
Harbourfront Centre continues to monitor the rapidly changing situation regarding the COVID-19 virus. For the health and safety of all our staff and our volunteers, our patrons, supporters and the community, and in line with the advice and guidelines of Toronto Public Health, we will be closed to the public until further notice. Slow Art Day is a global event with a simple mission: Help more people discover for themselves the joy of looking at and loving art. Held each year on the second Saturday in April, Slow Art Day has more than 100 institutions participating around the world, each encouraging visitors to look at art slowly, and then meet to talk about their experiences. While we share personal associations with the art, we can also make interpersonal connections with other participants.

Tairone Bastien is a public art curator working between Toronto and Dubai. From 2011-17 he was based in the United Arab Emirates, where he established the Alserkal Programme at Alserkal Avenue in Dubai, and shaped the public programming strategy for art centres in Abu Dhabi. In addition to ongoing curatorial research and projects, Tairone is currently a Global Journalism Fellow at the Munk School of Global Affairs. Bastien will discuss Kader Attia’s exhibition The Field of Emotion.
