dance Immersion proudly presents the 3rd annual presentation Doing Our Thing, a showcase of artists celebrating an expressive array of artistry, reflecting their unique voices and artistic contributions to our beautiful artistic landscape.
Audiences will enjoy an evening of captivating performances, with artists presenting a different cultural expression unique to their own lived experiences, and will leave feeling an overwhelming appreciation of artistic influences that touch the human spirit
Doing Our Thing will feature two dynamic artists, Kristina Alleyne of Alleyne Dance (UK) and Charmaine Lurch (Canada), alongside Amadou Kienou, Artists In Motion, EDIFY, and Kevin Reigh.
Charmaine Lurch an award winning arts researcher and interdisciplinary artist. Her contribution to Canadian art has been influenced by a wealth of cultural experiences, academic studies and formal art education. Charmaine’s present research involves an examination of how anti black racism creates a climate of invisibility and erasure of the experiences and agency of racially marked subjects in society.
dance Immersion is a not-for-profit organization recognized for its steady engagement in producing, promoting and showcasing dancers and dances of the African Diaspora. The organization was founded in 1994 by Vivine Scarlett and was established to address the need for additional presentation, skill development, and networking opportunities for dance artists of African descent.
