About the company: “Some of the best evenings that I have witnessed in Toronto have been performances by Andrew Burashko's Art of Time Ensemble – a caravan of classical and popular musicians. Art of Time leaps over the usual barriers of culture. So Schumann and Tolstoy can rub shoulders with Ginsberg and our best contemporary musicians. The result is entertainment that is often thrilling, often full of insights - as in the old values of art that delight and instruct.” − Michael Ondaatje

A special presentation of Art of Time Ensemble in association with Harbourfront Centre

“….one of Canada’s most innovative presenters of art-music…”

— CBC Radio

A retro re-imagining of H.G. Wells’ masterpiece of alien invasion.

The critically acclaimed Art of Time Ensemble brings to life the 1898 novel The War of the Worlds as a staged radio drama to mark the centenary of Bernard Hermann’s birth, the Academy Award-winning composer who worked with Alfred Hitchcock and Orson Welles among others.

The performance includes a live orchestra, a foley artist and renowned actors (including Don McKellar, Nicholas Campbell and Marc Bendavid) stepping behind the microphones as this timeless classic of theatrical persuasion and human paranoia is reborn for 21st century audiences. As a curtain raiser, a commissioned instrumental suite based on the original film score by local composer Dan Parr will set the mood for this dramatized radio broadcast of an alien invasion of Earth.
