About Clare Muireann Murphy
Clare Muireann Murphy is a storyteller, writer and social entrepreneur. She has graced many great stages including the Globe Theatre, London, The Barbican Theatre, London, The Times Cheltenham Literature Festival, The Kilkenny Arts Festival and Cape Clear International Storytelling Festival. She has also toured the UK with the Storytelling Café in spring and autumn 2008, and a solo tour in March 2009.

Clare received a Social Entrepreneur Award in 2007 for her work with storytelling in the community. This included working with refugees, asylum seekers, the elderly and teenagers. This work uses storytelling as means of bridging the gaps between marginalised communities in Ireland. She was nominated for an Arts Foundation Fellowship UK in 2008.  She is a member of Poetry Ireland Writer’s in Schools Scheme. She is also a member of Storytellers of Ireland.

Clare gives workshops in storytelling and has worked with a wide range of workshop participants including travellers, refugees, youth at risk, youth theatre groups, university students, teachers, actors and the elderly. Her repertoire extends far beyond Irish mythology and folklore; telling tales from world folklore, participation tales, anecdotes, fables, and legends. Clare’s dynamic physical style of telling brings traditional stories alive.
