About The Backseat Balladeers
The Backseat Balladeers casually formed in 2007 as a result of Storytelling Toronto’s Ballad 101 and 201 courses led by the esteemed Lorne Brown. Their debut performance was during Nuit Blanche 2009 with Storytelling Toronto at the Toronto Artscape Wychwood Barns. Enthusiasm for continuing this art form inspired members Joan Bailey, Pat Bisset, Karen Blair, June Brown, Ruth Danziger, Greg Davis, Donna Dudinsky, Jody James, Catherine Melville, Kim Reynolds and Heather Whaley (all performing artists from across the GTA) to meet and bring researched material to monthly gatherings, where they share stories through Canadian ballads and folksongs.
