Making Do: Exploring the Role of Creative Production in Achieving Sustainability

Nose-to-tail, cradle-to-cradle, field-to-table, open source collaboration and carbon footprint are all phrases that we have come to associate with alternative modes of consumption and production. Although variously aligned, the motivation behind these phrases is shared to close the loop on consumption and waste in support of a more sustainable future.

What then is the role of the creative practitioner in participating in and supporting this change? What are some evolving strategies and ideas we can adopt to aid in re-imagining and changing the current models and methods of creative production? Whatever the possibilities, there will undoubtedly be plenty of creative tension and opportunity as we push forward into a more sustainable collective future.

Speakers include Mason White + Lola Sheppard of Lateral Office, Elísabet Gunnarsdótter of Fogo Island Arts Corporation, Cynthia Hathaway, and Claire Ironside + Angela Iarocci of moimoi design.

Moderated by York University's Professor Michael Longford.
