Esprit Orchestra’s New Wave Composers Festival
Esprit’s New Wave Composers Festival showcases new orchestral works of young Canadian composers Matthew Ricketts (In What Language?), Anthony Tan (Quixotic) and Zosha Di Castri (Cortège). The concert, in collaboration with the Canadian League of Composers (CLC), will also present two winning works from the CLC’s 60th Anniversary composition competition. John Rea’s Accident: Tombeau de Grisey was awarded top prize while Farshid Samandari’s coming home won the student composition prize.
The CLC will host a reception following the concert to honour the composers, and also to present the 2011 Friends of Canadian Music Awards, including a special one-time prize for lifetime academic achievement in Canadian composition.
