About Chef Sang Kim:
Sang Kim is an author (Ballad Of A Karaoke Cowboy, A Dream Called Laundry), restaurateur (Blowfish, Tasty's, KOKO! Share Bar) and culinary consultant. His latest writing project, Woody Allen Ate My Kimchi, is a candid and hilarious look behind the scenes at some of Toronto's top restaurants. He runs Sushi Making for the Soul, an irreverent and fun sushi-making class that directs participants to issues around sustainable sushi.
About Chef Jose Hadad:
Chef Jose Hadad, a native of Mexico City, came to Canada in 2001 to follow his culinary dreams. Hadad, the executive chef/co-owner of Frida Restaurant & Bar, makes his mark with refined Mexican dishes, loaded with authentic flavours and artistic presentations. As food critics Joanne Kates notes, “The majority of Hadad’s cooking is unimpeachable.” Prior to Frida, Hadad cultivated his talents with time spent at Bymark and the Grand Hotel, and in 2005 was an apprentice to Michael Stadtländer for the “Heaven on Earth” project. In 2006, Hadad started his own Mexican food products company Mad Mexican, serving up salsas, guacamole, burritos and nachos and sells in over 45 gourmet food shops across the GTA.
About Mary Luz Meija (host):
Food enthusiast, writer (journalist by training), researcher, intrepid traveler and Gemini-nominated food TV producer/director begins to cover it. Mary Luz Mejia is the associate editor of Canada's national travel magazine, Ensemble Vacations, as well as the culinary travel section editor for Worldly Delights. She has penned hundreds of food articles, culinary profiles, food celebrity interviews and cultural explorations into the foods we eat and why we love them. You can read her work in Ensemble Vacations, enRoute, Toronto Life, openfile.ca, canadianliving.com, Edible Toronto, Clean Eating, goodfoodrev.com and Reader's Digest to name a few. She currently ghost writes for two top Canadian chefs and works with artisanal food producers in coming up with creative, meaningful media campaigns. Her food TV work includes producing/directing Street Eats on Sun TV, the Food Network Canada’s At the Table With... and all three seasons of Corus Entertainment’s Fearless in the Kitchen with Canadian celebrity chef Christine Cushing. She has been called “one of Toronto’s most dedicated and passionate food journalists” by Saveur Magazine’s editor-in-chief James Oseland.
