About the company:
COBA Collective of Black Artists was founded in 1993 by Junia Mason, Charmaine Headley, BaKari E. Lindsay (formerly Eddison B. Lindsay) and Mosa Neshama (formerly Kim McNeilly), as a platform to create and perform dance that reflected their heritage and social realities. Under the direction of remaining founders and co-artistic directors, Headley and Lindsay, the Collective presents traditional West African dance, music and folklore, as well as Caribbean Indigenous folk dance, music and rituals in the purest forms possible for the theatrical stage, and contemporary work developed from an Africanist movement aesthetic.

The performances on Saturday, February 4 and Sunday, February 5  feature a post-show artist talk-back!

This piece brings together traditional works from co-artistic directors Charmaine Headley and BaKari E. Lindsay, alongside guest choreographers Lindsay Faye Johnson and Sister Robin Hibbert. The traditional dance forms from Guinea and Senegal will move you through an incredible and vibrant experience of folklore and storytelling.
