About DJ MelBoogie:
Hailing from Toronto, MelBoogie is one of the country's best-known female DJs. In a career spanning almost 15 years, she has pushed boundaries and took the road less travelled to raise the bar on what is expected from a female DJ. Her roots are deeply embedded in college radio, formerly at CHRY 105.5FM, where she and partner, DJ Manifest, set the morning airwaves on fire for six years. She has also co-hosted several events, including Toronto’s annual Graffiti Expo, North by NorthEast Indie Showcase, Woman 2 Woman Expo, and has been a speaker/panelist at a variety of music industry conferences. She has also done several television appearances, including MuchMusic, New Music, MTV Canada, Toronto Life, and Fashion Television spin-off, Ooh-La-La.
MelBoogie is the resident DJ for Honey Jam and is Canada's first female CORE DJ. She won the 2008 Stylus Female DJ of the Year Award, naming her the top female DJ in Canada and was the only DJ selected to participate in Luminato's Mille Femmes Exhibit, dedicated to Toronto's most inspiring women in the creative arts, presented by L'Oreal. She has opened for touring artists such as Q-Tip, The Cool Kids, Bahamadia and M.O.P.
