The Wooster Group - The Wooster Group's Version of Tennessee Williams' Vieux Carré

Canadian premiere.

One of Williams’ last, elegiac plays is boldly re-imagined by the most influential and experimental theatre company in the United States. This radical – yet textually faithful – interpretation of Williams’ autobiographical play seethes with sexual and creative awakening, desire and loneliness in New Orleans. Directed by Elizabeth LeCompte and supported by the company’s hallmark layered sound score and inventive use of video, the play is deftly translated to the 21st century.

"I'd trade a dozen or so Broadway retreads of Williams' acknowledged masterpieces for [this] ... brilliant production."
