About Theatre Cotton Robes:

Formed in 2003, Theatre Cotton Robes is a partnership between musical theatre composer/arranger/adapter Greg Robic and award-winning singer/actor/director Lawrence Cotton. The company’s mandate is to create and adapt works that combine elements of musical theatre, opera and in some cases traditional Japanese storytelling into highly entertaining and educational shows for children and adults alike.

Their first collaboration was Greg’s adaptation of Aristophanes’s anti-war classic Lysistrata for Toronto’s prestigious Summerworks Festival at the Factory Theatre (voted into the top 10 for the festival). They followed that success with an adaptation of Mozart’s beloved opera The Magic Flute, entitled Allegra’s Magic Flute, which was performed, in French, at the world renowned Montreal Baroque Music Festival 2006. English versions have been performed to great acclaim at Toronto’s Music Garden and as part of the Illuminato Festival at Harbourfront Centre.

Orfea and the Golden Harp

Don’t miss the return engagement of this witty and touching adaptation of the Orpheus myth for the whole family! A little girl named Orfea shoulders her golden harp and journeys to the Underworld to bring her beloved grandfather back to life. Along the way we hear music from 400 years of opera, including Monteverdi, Mozart, Handel, Gounod, Bizet and Offenbach. Adaptation by Greg Robic.

Brooke Dufton: soprano
Lawrence Cotton: baritone
Rachad Feizoullaev: keyboard
