About the Ton Beau String Quartet:
The Ton Beau String Quartet was formed in the spring of 2010 through its members' work in the University of Toronto Art Centre (UTAC) Concert Series. While continuing to perform their UTAC concert series, the TBSQ has also performed at Almonte in Concert, Toronto's Arts and Letters Club, Hart House Midday Mosaics, the Music at Noon series at Wilfrid Laurier University, and the University of Toronto New Music Festival. During 2011-2012, the TBSQ participated in a Young Artist’s Professional Career Development Residency at Wilfrid Laurier University, under the mentorship of the Penderecki String Quartet, as well as a two-week Creative Residency at the Banff Centre for the Arts, where they studied with Henk Guittart. The TBSQ has participated in the St. Lawrence String Quartet Chamber Music Seminar at Stanford University since 2010, and in 2011 participated in Quartetfest at Wilfrid Laurier University. The quartet also receives coachings from Terry Helmer and Tim Ying and has performed in masterclasses for the Ebene Quartet, Lafayette Quartet, Miro Quartet, Pacifica Quartet, St. Lawrence String Quartet, and the Tokyo String Quartet. The Ton Beau String Quartet is passionately committed to educational outreach, and has led workshops at schools in Toronto and Strathmore, Alta. In spring 2012 the quartet also gave workshops in Almonte, Ont..
