Artists can project Renewal from within, as exemplified by the musical sounds of seventeen year old Ali Fontaine, from Sagkeeng First Nation, Manitoba.
After the release of her self-titled debut CD, Ali's first release went to number one on the National Aboriginal Music Countdown charts. She was nominated for several Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards and won three, including Most Outstanding Aboriginal Manitoban.
She has toured with Manitoba Star Attractions Talent Showcase, and has opened for Leela Gilday, Errol Ranville and C-Weed Band. She also opened for Val Kilmer in New York, and performed in Central Park for the Indigenous Leadership Development Institute.
Ali Fontaine also performs with Susan Aglukark as part of Trailblazers and Music Makers at Woodland Cultural Centre on Friday, August 17 at 9pm.
