Canada Day Poetry Slam featuring C.R. Avery, Dwayne Morgan and More

Canada Day is an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of trailblazers and influential art forms that have left their mark on the Canadian cultural landscape, as well as to highlight artists who are blazing a new trail.

Harbourfront Centre, in partnership with Toronto Poetry Project, bring you the Canada Day Poetry Slam, held over two separate days and showcasing some of the top spoken word talent in the city and beyond!

Eight poets (two chosen from the audience) will perform in a two-round slam on Friday and the top four move on to the finals on Sunday.

Friday's guest poets are C.R. Avery (pictured), a poet/musician/beatboxer who's won over crowds from his native British Columbia to Montreal and beyond, and Dwayne Morgan, the godfather of spoken word in Toronto and one of the most dynamic performers in the city.

Expect verbal fireworks and heart-wrenching honesty as poets perform some of their best works.

Hosted by Dave Silverberg of Toronto Poetry Slam.
