Maracatu Mar Aberto is an Afro-Brazilian percussion and song troupe that plays maracatu de baque virado and other rhythms derived from the same traditions. Translated as the "open sea," the name represents the aggregated influences that have traveled from Africa to Brazil and onwards to Toronto and beyond.

Maracatu Mar Aberto is presented in partnership with Uma Nota Só.
