About Bruno Capinan:
Although heavily influenced by the home of samba, Brazil, Bruno Capinan’s artistic vision expands beyond nations. This Toronto-based singer and songwriter finds himself inspired by his country of birth as much as the country he now calls home, Canada. His free approach to music has served him well. His critically acclaimed debut, Gozo, has been described as "remarkably original-sounding" by NOW magazine and was named one of the best albums of the year by critics.
He began his music career in 2002. Since then, Capinan has collaborated with musicians from all over the world, been involved in numerous projects, including music scores for dance companies and over 10 films. He has released several music videos of his own, including Acalanto, a CTV and Bravo! production broadcasted in Canada and US. Some may recognize him from the CBC's documentary Gloriously Free, a film that focused on his struggle to stay in Canada, having his immigration status initially refused and later granted.
Bruno Capinan is currently in the studio working on his second album, set to be released in 2012. Produced by Luis Pereira and Capinan, the album will feature 12 photography pieces, by the singer himself, for 12 songs. Heavily influenced by samba, bossa nova and the tropicalia movement, the new album will have its first single revealed on July 1st.
