About Carlos Fuentes:

Carlos Fuentes, who died in May of 2012, was often described as Mexico’s greatest novelist. Known to English speakers primarily for two of his books, The Old Gringo and The Death of Artemio Cruz, he also served Mexico as a diplomat. When he died this year he was universally mourned and given great credit for his outstanding career in eulogies that even included his former critics.

A comprehensive obituary was published by The New York Times.

The staff of the Consulate of Mexico in Toronto is dedicating its ofrenda to him this year.
