NeXt by NE: Oliver Pigott
Oliver Piggot's presence commands your attention. What most people recognize instantly are his lyrics. As one admirer from Los Angeles explained, "It's almost as if Oliver has spent his young life on a train and seen the world in all its joy, pain, benevolence, cruelty and social injustice." The tunes, too, speak of a world-weary soul, resulting in a wonderful melodic mix of blues, pop and rock 'n' roll. After the passing of his father, a blues harmonica player, Oliver picked up the instrument while living in The Algarve, Portugal. At the age of 12, he began performing in the country's bars and clubs. Returning to Toronto in his teens, Oliver gathered a passionate legion of fans with his high school band, playing such legendary clubs as The El Mocambo and The Opera House.
Now a ubiquitous presence in clubs across the UK, Canada and the US, an artist whose music has been featured on TV and radio worldwide and one half of the internationally renowned musical duo The Pigott Brothers, the rest of the world is about to discover what his many admirers already know. In the words of one devoted Pigott concertgoer, "Oliver picks up that guitar and steps up to the microphone like he's coming home. I've seen him so many times because he's 20 feet tall onstage and I can't look away."
